Prescriptions for Life: Collages & Writings
A Collaboration between Paula Gray & Theresa Whitehill

In this exhibition, visual artist Paula Gray and poet Theresa Whitehill, both of Mendocino County in northern California, collaborate on the theme of “prescriptions for life,” based on collages Paula created from a nineteenth century medical prescription ledger, along with Theresa’s writings exploring related themes, presented as a series of letterpress broadsides. The exhibit included the loan of two antique medical prescription ledgers (nineteenth and early twentieth century) from the University of California at San Francisco Library.

The exhibit opened the week that San Francisco underwent Shelter in Place orders due to the novel coronavirus and was closed within several days. The gallery never reopened before the exhibit closed in July of 2020.
