In this exhibition, visual artist Paula Gray and poet Theresa Whitehill collaborate on the theme of “prescriptions for life,” based on collages Paula Gray created from a nineteenth century medical prescription ledger that she found, along with Whitehill’s writings exploring related themes, presented as a series of letterpress broadsides. As part of the project, Whitehill researched medical prescription ledgers and found surviving copies in the UCSF Medical Library from the nineteenth to the early twentieth centuries.

This exhibit was to have its debut in the Matta Gallery at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco on March 4, 2020 under the curation of Deirdre Visser. The exhibit had to be canceled, however, due to Covid-19, at that point called novel coronavirus.

At long last this exhibit will have a public showing at Medium Art Center in Ukiah in September 2026. More details as the opening date approaches.
