THIS IS AN INVITATION TO ALL POETS, WRITERS, READERS, AND LOVERS OF LITERATURE, YOUNG, OLD, IN BETWEEN, KNOWN, UNKNOWN, SUBMERGED, EMERGED AND EMERGING: Rhyming, free verse, expensive or expansive verse, reverses, metered, learned, unlearned, experimental—all varieties, styles and non-styles are welcome.

The series formerly known as Poetry at the Cobalt, and before that, SlackTide, resumes on the third Sunday of each month, under a new name: The J&J Poetry Jam, in honor of Joe Smith and Janferie Stone, longstanding members of the Mendocino poetry community who both passed away in February of 2026. The series is moving from the Cobalt Gallery to the JD Center in Fort Bragg.

The readings are the 3rd Sunday of the month, 2–4 pm. The next reading at the JD Center will be Sunday, September 20, 2026; Mendocino Youth Poets Laureate will read in the first hour, followed by open mic readings. There is a signup sheet and each poet reads for 5 minutes. Please get this around far and wide, as we’d like to reach all over Mendocino County and beyond. Any suggestions or ideas you have, including other people to invite, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing you Sunday, September 20th at the JD Center.
