2026 Mendocino Spring Poetry Celebration Reading – 51st Annual

The annual Mendocino Spring Poetry Celebration will be held Sunday, May 17th at the JD Center, 208 Dana Street in Fort Bragg, half block north of Fort Bragg High School. Hosted by the Mendocino County Poet Laureate committee, admission is free and the community is invited to experience the poetry, and all poets are invited to read their poems. This year is the 51st anniversary of the Celebration, and the one time all year when poets from the whole county gather together to celebrate their art and community.
There will be two sessions of poetry. Doors will open at 12:00 noon for signups and community fellowship, and the first reading will start at 1:00 pm. There will be an afternoon break, and at 5:00 pm signups will begin for the 6 pm evening session. Poets should prepare up to four minutes of poetry per session. You can attend one session or both. The poems will be recorded and many of them will eventually be broadcast on Dan Roberts’ Rhythm Running River show on KZYX, where they will be played alternating with a dynamic selection of world music and archived on Dan’s website: www.outfarpress.com.
Attendees are invited to bring snacks, finger food, hors d’oeuvres, and beverages for a community potluck.
The Mendocino County Poet Laureate Committee and the Mendocino County poetry community thank Flockworks for the use of the JD Center, and thanks also to Blake More for creating the event poster.
